Safe Skids

Participants will drive a car at very low speeds equipped with plastic wheels that simulate low grip at the rear axle.  Instructors will ride along while coaching how to recognize and correct Understeer and Oversteer situations.

ABS Training

Participants will drive a car up to 45mph to a set point marked by cones.  At the marked point, drivers will aggressively apply the brakes and bring the vehicle to a complete stop.  After stopping, drivers will slowly drive to the observing Instructor to receive immediate feedback and corrections for the next run.  Drivers will repeat the exercise several times to build confidence and remove fear of using the brakes to their full stopping potential.

Emergency Lane Change

Participants will drive a car up to 40mph through two groups of cones.  The first group of cones sets the speed and direction of the vehicle.  While passing through the first group of cones, the riding Instructor will call LEFT or RIGHT to the driver at the last moment.  The driver will then attempt an emergency lane change to the lane selected by the Instructor.  Once the driver reaches the selected lane, they will perform an ABS stop for added learning.  Drivers will repeat the exercise several times to build confidence and remove fear of using the vehicle’s full accident avoidance capability.

Simulation Lab

Participants will practice a combination of skills while driving a professional driving simulator.  This module will focus on keeping eyes ahead, calm hands and breathing, smooth inputs, exploring vehicle capability, and the enjoyment of driving while fully focused on technique and safety.
